I am a trained freelance journalist with an entrepreneurial background.
After a decade of business coaching, I have returned to my first love – writing and storytelling.
As a young journalist, winning awards at the top New Zealand School of Journalism, I came to the UK to further my career, working for both regional and national newspapers.
After several years in political PR, I started my own business, running a public affairs marketing company as well as owning and managing the Northcote Manor Country House Hotel in Devon. The hotel went on to win (twice) the Johansen’s Country House Hotel of the Year Award. (See: ‘Written in the DNA’)
There are so many stories which make hotels, travel and hospitality companies interesting to their clientele, but which are seldom told. My mission is to dig out those stories and help the owners tell them.
I am also keen to write about property developments, the education sector - schools and universities - and distinctive small to medium-sized enterprises. My focus is the struggles of the founders and secrets to their success.
